City leaders will admit the longtime nickname for the “Fix or Flatten”, or F/F, implies nuisance properties are ripe for rehab to allow a new family to move in.

In reality, many of the properties coming into the city’s possession are in such disrepair that the cost to fix them is equal to or more than the value of the home.

The last three properties approved by the Quincy City Council for the “Fix or Flatten” program are prime examples.
