THE DETAILS
John Boyd says he’s getting ready to “get the hell out of town,” after he says police illegally entered a home he’s renovating.
It turns out his neighbor, who happens to be the mayor’s wife, made a complaint about squatters being inside the home.
But instead of contacting Boyd or his financial consultant, who’s overseeing the renovations to the home and lives down the block, the responding officers used the consent of the part-time housekeeper to enter the home.
There were no squatters, only a contractor who had left the property briefly to get lunch.
A council member who questioned police during a recent meeting is now facing impeachment because the police chief said she implied misconduct.
“It’s strange the politics in Louisiana, things don’t get done like a normal town,” Boyd said.
