It was opening weekend for Deer Season over in Missouri last Saturday, and with Illinois’ shotgun season kicking off this weekend, our community is celebrating the hunters who make this time of year what it is. In this story, Randy and Brittney sat down with the veterans at Bob Havermale’s lodge to share the conversations Bob wanted told — stories of service, brotherhood, tradition, and the deer camp built from a promise. As hunters gather across our region, they support small businesses, help maintain the deer population, and carry on a skill as old as the land itself.
