THE DETAILS
QUINCY — The Quincy Knights of Columbus Council 583 started their weekly lottery drawing 94 weeks ago with 100 numbers.
You wouldn’t figure the number would be pulled early, but 94 weeks?
So with six numbers remaining Thursday night, a couple thousand people filled two halls, a parking lot, a sand volleyball court and a softball field to see if they could FINALLY get lucky.
I’m sure the volleyball and softball players were focused on their respective sports, but they were still going to check their tickets when possible.
Beer lines were long. Restroom lines were long. Food truck lines were long. But everyone was happy and enjoying a beautiful evening, waiting for 8 p.m. and hoping their PIN would be called.
So with the final six numbers…it still went down to the last number, so the person whose ticket was pulled last was guaranteed to be the winner and 98 was the last number left on the board.
Christine Venvertloh, come on down.
